Council workers rescue baby from River Severn in Shrewsbury

The baby girl was being taken out by her Grandmother, near to the Weir in Castlefields, when her pram was blown into the river by a gust of wind.

The men who were working nearby heard the grandmother screaming and went to help.

Two of the men entered the water, whilst a third worker helped lift the baby and his colleagues out.

The baby was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for checks, although was apparently unharmed.
