Police issue statement following Telford dog theft rumours
West Mercia Police today issued a statement on social media following reports that three men were allegedly stealing dogs in the Telford area.

Users of social networking websites facebook and twitter yesterday shared and commented on photos of a red transit van containing three men who were allegedly using the cover story they wanted to buy gold, but were actually looking to steal pet dogs.
West Mercia Police said there was no evidence to support the rumours and that they were not actively investigating.
Police officers yesterday stopped the vehicle but there was no evidence to link the individuals to the alleged crimes.
Dog owners are reminded never to be complacent with the security of their animals. There are certain measures that can be taken to ensure a dog is not stolen, such as chipping and keeping them in a secure area.
If you are concerned about suspicious activity call 101.
