Telford College opens new base in Wellington town centre
Telford College of Arts and Technology has officially opened its new ‘Positive Pathways’ learning centre in the heart of Wellington.

The building, in Tan Bank, offers specialist support to young people who are not in education, employment or training – helping to prepare them for the world of work, or further education.
Samantha Matthews, who manages the programme, said: “We’re delighted with the Wellington building, which complements the similar centre we opened in Dawley around 18 months ago.
“It now means that we have facilities which are easily accessible for students in both the northern and southern area of Telford.”
Telford College took over the Tan Bank building at the end of last year, and has spent thousands of pounds on refubishments ahead of the official opening.
The Positive Pathways students took the lead in organising the launch, delivering a presentation to guests, and leading guided tours of the two-storey building.
Phil Morris-Jones, who represented Wellington Town Council at the official launch and cut the ribbon to declare the building open, said he was “amazed and impressed” by the facilities.
“The most enjoyable thing in life is to have a career you enjoy, and that is what the team at Telford College are working hard here to help people achieve,” he said
Positive Pathways students Ben Trower and Carly Richardson explained to guests how the programme was helping to transform the lives of students.
They praised staff for their one-to-one support in helping students with a broad range of both mental and social issues, improving discipline and life skills, and boosting confidence.
Ben said: “We learn important life skills which make us more employable, tackling areas such as discipline, communication, and the importance of teamwork, helping to improve our confidence.”
And Carly added: “People come here thinking they are no good at anything and can’t do anything. This place builds up people’s confidence, changes our attitudes, and makes us feel better about ourselves.”
