An elderly woman was taken to hospital last night after suffering from smoke inhalation following a small fire involving food at her home in Telford.

Firefighters were called to the fire involving food in a kitchen of a flat at Apley Court Sheltered Housing on Severn Drive in Telford at 10.40pm.

The fire was out on arrival but firefighters administered oxygen to the woman before an ambulance crew arrived and transferred her to hospital.
