The A41 near Newport was closed this afternoon following a collision involving five cars.

Collision closes A41 near Newport, Shropshire

Emergency services were called to the crash on the A41 at Woodcote just after 5pm.

One person was released from one of the vehicles by firefighters from Newport and Wellington using cutting equipment.

Four people suffered injuries thought not to be life threatening.

The A41 is closed between Newport and Bloomsbury.
