Louise Smyth, 32, from the Ditherington area of Shrewsbury, has been charged with robbery and will appear at court today.

The charge is in connection with an incident which happened on Longden Coleham on Sunday 5 April at around 1.30pm.

The victim, a 77-year-old woman, was approached by another woman who snatched her purse from her handbag.

When she attempted to run off, a man came to the victim's aid and managed to retrieve her purse before the offender ran off.

Police have not yet been able to identify the good Samaritan who helped the victim and are still hoping to speak with him. He is asked to call 101 quoting incident 306S of Sunday 5 April.
