Family make generous donation to Children’s Ward

Three sisters have donated £800 to the Children’s Ward at a Shropshire hospital in memory of their mum.

Family make generous donation to Children’s Ward

Jessica Crofts, 22; Nicola Matthews, 28; Laura Hall, 31 and their dad Graham Crofts, 55, visited the Children’s Ward at the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford to make the donation to staff.

The money was collected at the funeral of the sisters’ mum Sandra Crofts, who passed away suddenly in February this year, aged 54. Sandra was much loved and there was a large turnout at her funeral, which took place in Hadnall last month.

The family, from Newport, chose the Children’s Ward to receive the donations, as it close to their hearts.

Jessica said: “In memory of our mum we wanted to donate to the Children's Ward because I was a patient there for many years when I was younger.

“My mum spent a lot of time there and we were both looked after very well. She always appreciated what they did for her and the family and it had a special place in her heart.

“We hope the money is used to benefit the children and staff on the ward.”

The sisters and their father visited the Children’s Ward on March 26 where they met Ward Manager Julie Peacock and other staff. They were also given a tour of the ward which is part of the Shropshire Women and Children’s Centre at PRH.

Julie said: “We really appreciate the generosity of Mrs Crofts’ family and everyone who made a donation which will benefit our ward.

“We are always incredibly grateful to the support of the local community, and donations like this are used to improve facilities for our young patients, and support our staff.

“This donation is likely to be used to buy equipment which the children can use to help make their stay with us a little bit easier.

“Thank you again to everyone involved in this extremely generous donation.”
