A woman has died following a collision between two cars in Whitchurch this afternoon.

Woman dies following two car collision in Whitchurch

The incident happened on Station Road, Whitchurch, shortly after 12.45pm.

A silver Ford Fiesta was travelling along the B5398 Station Road, from the direction of Waymills towards Whitchurch town centre, when it collided with a blue Jeep Patriot Sport which was travelling in the opposite direction from Whitchurch towards Waymills.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta, a woman in her 60's from Crewe, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Jeep, a 59-year-old man from Whitchurch did not require hospital treatment for his injuries.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find CPR already in progress on the woman before they took over to administer advanced life support to try and resuscitate her.

“Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of everyone it became apparent that nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.

“Crews also assessed a man from the second car for minor injuries, but he did not require any further treatment.”

Police officers investigating the incident are anxious to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the circumstances leading up to it.

We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to contact West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 258 of 30 April 2015.
