Telford Town Park to welcome giant parade today
All things big will be celebrated at the Carnival of Giants in Southwater and Telford Town Park today.

The main attraction will be the colourful parade of giants and magical creatures which have been created by local schools and community groups with the help of The Liverpool Lantern Company.
The carnival procession will be joined by the famous Mr Wilson’s Second Liners who will bring their New Orleans vibe, playing hits from the hacienda days and are sure to get everyone into the carnival spirit.
The parade will lead the giants from Southwater into Telford Town Park's QE11 Fields in Trust Arena where there will be an abundance of family activities to take part in.
Turn into a ballonatic at the balloon making workshop, get a photo in the giant deck chair, or help to complete the story aptly named 'The Giant and The Peacock'. As well as many more activities that will be taking place.
There will also be traditional 'have-a-go' carnival activities to have a go at such as hook a duck and cork shooting.
There will also be a BIG lunch – everyone is invited to bring along a picnic to enjoy with family and friends in the Town Park, or pick up some food from one of the many market stalls selling culinary delights, or even pick up a take away from one of the Southwater restaurants.
Councillor Liz Clare, Cabinet Member for Leisure Services and Culture, said: “We’re really excited to be hosting this event in the Town Park.
“This event is the only one of its kind in Telford and the surrounding area and one that will capture the imagination of people of all ages. Carnival is a celebration of place and people.
“We want to involve the whole community in creating something spectacular to celebrate where they live and we hope this will be become a regular part of our growing events calendar.
“We hope everyone will get creative and join the carnival at the weekend.”
Events will be taking place in Southwater and Telford Town Park from 12noon–5pm, the Carnival procession will start at 2pm.
