Merrick known as 'Mez', was the loving son of Gary and Charlotte, and big brother to Callum, Gabriella and Fraser. He was also the loving grandson of John and Enid Green and the beloved boyfriend of Rache Amber.

Merrick was formally from Market Drayton but moved to Shrewsbury. He attended Thomas Adams School in Wem.

His family said: "Merrick was always loved and will never be forgotten. He was the best friend to everybody and loved by all.

"Merrick was strong and brave- he played rugby for Market Drayton Rugby Club. He also loved to water-ski and was the best at slalom skiing.

"He loved to travel and spent a year in Australia living the dream."

Merrick sustained serious head injuries in the collision which occurred at 5.45pm on Monday, he was transported to North Staffordshire Hospital but sadly died later in the evening.

He was travelling in the direction of Whitchurch on a red Yamaha Motorcycle when he was in collision with two cars, a green Toyata and a white Citroën both travelling in the direction of Shrewsbury.

PC Mark Booth said "Our thoughts are with Merrick's family at this very sad time. We are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have seen any of the vehicles beforehand to come forward. Please contact police on 101 quoting incident number 608 of 8 June."
