Shrewsbury's former Dana Prison to open for tours

Jailhouse Tours will be running guided tours, theme events and experiences, educational days, history days, seasonal events, horror tours and school tours at the former prison.

The 136 year old prison was one of seven shut by the Ministry of Justice in 2013. Since its closure, many residents have expressed an interest in having the opportunity to look around the iconic building.

The building was purchased in 2014 by the Trevor Osborne Property Group.

Earlier this month film crews were seen filming for a new series the three part itv drama Prey. The BAFTA nominated drama returns with a completely new story which includes a number of scenes featuring Philip Glenister filmed at the former Dana Prison in Castlefields.

More details on the tours will be available soon at http://www.jailhousetours.com

On Monday 24 February 2014 our editor Chris Pritchard was invited on a tour of the former HMP Shrewsbury.
