Man assaulted during aggravated burglary in Telford

Four men forced their way into a home on Winifreds Drive in Donnington, at around 11.45pm.

The victim sustained minor injuries to his head and body before he managed to get away and call police. Nothing was stolen.

DI Jason Everett, the investigating officer, said: "We are treating this incident seriously. Using violence against another person is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated by West Mercia Police.

"However, I wish to reassure the local community that this is an isolated incident and there is not believed to be a wider concern for the public."

Three of the men were white - one of a stocky build and all aged in their 20s. The fourth man is described as black, around six foot tall, of an athletic build and was wearing dark clothing.

Anyone who saw four men acting suspiciously in the area at the time is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident 6S of Wednesday 22 July. Others with information that can help police with their enquiries are also asked to come forward.

Alternatively, information can be given to the independent charity, Crimestoppers, anonymously via 0800 555 111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org
