A man from Telford has been charged with making indecent images of children following a police investigation.

Telford man charged with making indecent images of children

David Follette aged 49 of High Street in Hadley was charged with 10 offences on Friday 31 July; nine in relation to making indecent photographs of a child and one of obstructing police officers. The later offence is in relation to software held on his computer which caused a delay to the investigation.

He appeared at Telford Magistrates Court on Saturday 1 August where he pleaded guilty to the nine charges of making indecent images of children. He has not yet entered a plea in relation to obstructing police. He has been remanded in custody by the courts and the case has been referred to Crown Court at a date to be decided.

In October 2014, police executed a warrant at Follette's home seizing computer items. These were sent off for examination, and a total of 308 still and moving images were recovered, including images of the most serious nature.

Detective Constable Andrew Dawson said "This is a serious offence which police have investigated thoroughly. Despite the software on the devices, designed to hide these indecent images, and make it difficult for our experts we were able to uncover a substantial amount of evidence.

"We would warn anyone who is viewing, images of this nature, that they are committing very serious offences and as such risk very serious consequences."
