‘Choose Well’ if you need medical help this Bank Holiday Weekend

People in Shropshire are being asked to think about the right place to go for help if they suffer an injury over the Bank Holiday Weekend.

‘Choose Well’ if you need medical help this Bank Holiday Weekend

The August Bank Holiday is traditionally a busy time for local NHS services and there is likely to be significant pressure on services. For less serious injuries people may be able to spare themselves a trip to A&E and a potentially lengthy wait for treatment by visiting one of Shropshire’s Minor Injury Units (MIUs) in Bridgnorth, Ludlow, or Oswestry (Whitchurch MIU will be closed over the Bank Holiday Weekend).

Gilly Scott, Clinical Lead for Minor Injuries Units in Shropshire, said: “We want everyone to enjoy themselves over the Bank Holiday Weekend, but anyone who does need treatment for a minor injury should think about the best place to go for help.

“Our Minor Injuries Units are run by specialist nurses and treat a wide range of non-life-threatening conditions, such as cuts, assessment of fractures, minor burns and scalds, minor head injuries, bites and sprains.”

The MIUs will be open on Bank Holiday Monday during the following hours:

Bridgnorth MIU
- Saturday 8am – 9.30pm
- Sunday 8am – 9.30pm
- Monday 8am – 9.30pm

Ludlow MIU
- Saturday 8am – 8pm
- Sunday 8am – 8pm
- Monday 8am – 8pm

Oswestry MIU
- Saturday 8.30am – 1pm
- Sunday 8.30am – 1pm
- Monday 8.30am – 6pm

Whitchurch MIU
- Saturday Closed
- Sunday Closed
- Monday Closed

If you are not sure what sort of help you need, you can speak to clinically trained staff by calling NHS 111.
