Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorist was robbed and assaulted in Shrewsbury last night.

Motorist robbed and assaulted in Shrewsbury

At around 8pm on Bage Way, a 34-year-old local man pulled his car to the side of the road in order to make a phone call. Whilst he was doing this, another car, described as possibly an Audi A3, pulled up behind him.

Three unknown men then exited the car and approached the victim's vehicle, a blue Renault Clio, before assaulting him. The victim managed to escape from his car and flag down a passing vehicle, dropping his phone in the car in the process.

When he later returned to his car he discovered his phone had been taken and the windscreen and nearside window had been smashed.

The victim attended hospital for his injuries.

Police are keen to speak to any passing motorists who were in the vicinity of Bage Way who may have witnessed the incident, as well as the driver of a red Rover 200 or 214 that stopped to assist the victim.

Anyone with information on this incident is urged to call police on 101, quoting incident number 666s of 6th September 2015. Alternatively, the independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously by calling 0800 555 111 or via their website.
