M54 slip road at J4 closed as investigations continue into discovery of human remains

The slip road to Junction 4 of the M54 Eastbound is closed today (Tuesday 8th September), whilst further forensic enquiries continue after human remains were uncovered.
The human skull was discovered by maintenance workers on Thursday 20 August.
Following further examinations and excavations further skeletal remains were found close by. It was established that the remains were that of an unknown male and were likely to have been at the scene in excess of two years.
The slip road will be closed at 9am this morning and will remain closed for most of the day.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil Jamieson said: "A number of enquiries are continuing. This includes a further search of the area where the remains were found, whilst weather conditions allow. I am keen to ensure that we have done all we can to recover all of the remains and any personal property which may have belonged to this individual. We are currently awaiting results from the forensic laboratory and are compiling a database of missing persons across the region.
"We apologise for any inconvenience the closure may cause to drivers, but as I'm sure the public appreciate it is vital that thorough searches and examinations are carried out to identify the man and establish what has happened."
