Free college bus service for students in the Bridgnorth area
Students from the Bridgnorth area are being given a helping hand to access further education, with the relaunch of a free bus service to Telford College of Arts and Technology.

The weekday service calls at eight pick-up points, on its way to the TCAT campus in Wellington.
The pick-up points include two in Bridgnorth – Severn Street in Low Town and Sainsbury’s in High Town – plus stops in Much Wenlock, Nordley, Broseley, Ironbridge, Coalbrookdale, and Horsehay
Telford College principal Chris Scott said: “We appreciate that the rural nature of Shropshire makes it a real challenge for many students to travel to college.
“A lack of public transport should not be a barrier to anyone’s chances of pursuing further education - that is why we are running free bus services for the new academic year.”
The bus makes its first morning call at Much Wenlock at 7.45am, and arrives in Bridgnorth at 8am. It reaches Nordley at 8.10am, Broseley at 8.15am, and Ironbridge at 8.26am.
The final two pick-ups are Coalbrookdale at 8.32am, and Horsehay at 8.36am.
Mr Scott added: “Anyone coming from a family with a total income of less than £35,000 may be entitled to financial support towards both their transport and course fees – our Learner Services department can give more information, on 01952 642237.”
Telford College is reaching out to more parts of Shropshire than ever this year. It has also launched a new bus service to cover the Market Drayton, Newport, Lilleshall, Hinstock and Hodnet areas.
Telford College is holding a series of interactive ‘Twilight Tasters’ over the next few days, when prospective students can try out a selection of courses.
On Monday September 14, the spotlight is on Engineering, Hair & Beauty, Art and Hospitality, followed by Automotive, Childcare, Media, Foundation Studies, Travel and Tourism on September 15.
The focus is on Sport, Construction, Business Administration, Health and Social Care on Wednesday September 16, and the final session on Thursday September 17 will concentrate on Public Services, Apprenticeships, Accounting, Computing, and Business.
Mr Scott said: “Anyone from year 8 to 11 is welcome, and you can sign up for as many taster sessions as you want. It’s a chance to come and have a go at a course, to see if it is something you’d like to sign up for.”
