Child's gravestone vandalised in Ironbridge

Sentimental ornaments and tokens were knocked over and damaged, while a general mess was also made around the grave.

The incident happened at Castle Green Cemetery, off Lincoln Hill between 12pm on Friday 14 August and 3pm on Saturday 15 August.

Constable Jamie Gough said: "This is a heartbreaking act of vandalism which has obviously caused a lot of distress for the family.

"This offence appears to be a deliberate act as the grave is some distance from the footpath.

"I would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious in the cemetery, or knows anything about this offence, to contact police on 101."
