Oswestry Community Games is taking place in Cae Glas Park today from 11am – 4.30pm.

Oswestry Community Games take place today

With over 40 local organisations covering sport and the arts signed up, the Games will be bigger and have more variety than last year’s which saw around 1000 people of all ages taking part and having fun in the park.

The Games is designed to encourage people of all ages and abilities to have fun and to become more active in physical and cultural activities on offer locally.

Amy Hughes, Oswestry's 53 Marathons lady and recent London Marathon runner will be the Guest of Honour.

Amy Hughes said: “I am delighted to accept the invitation to be this year’s Guest of Honour for the Oswestry Community Games. I note the Games including Arts, is now in its third year and is growing each year and I very much look forward to playing my part in it. You may be aware that I have recently set up the 53 Foundation to raise money to help people with disabilities to be more active. I am also delighted that this will be the Charity which the Community Games will support on the day. I therefore look forward to meeting everyone who made this event happen and participants on the day.”

Last year, Oswestry Community Games was recognised as one of the top six in the country by the national Community Games organisation.
