Firefighters called to hazardous incident at Epson in Telford

Staff at Epson in Telford were evacuated as a precaution this morning following a hazardous substance incident.
Firefighters were called to the factory located on Hortonwood 30 at around 9.40am, after a small amount of chemical used in ink production was accidentally mixed in the waste treatment room.
Four fire engines attended including two specialist vehicles and two officers.
Fire crews investigated and assisted in ventilation until the incident was believed to be safe.
The chemicals were then pumped out by Veolia and production at the factory continued as normal.
A Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Due to Epson’s pre-planning and thorough risk assessment which was immediately passed onto fire crews the incident was resolved safely and quickly.
"All business should ensure all their risk assessments and their evacuation plans and procedures are kept up to date."
