New organisers for 2016 Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Half Marathon

Details were today revealed for the 2016 Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Half Marathon, which included announcing a new company to run next year's event.

UKRunChat will be organising the 2016 Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Half Marathon, which is set to take place at 9am on Sunday 19 June and will raise funds for local charities including Hope House and Severn Hospice.

The 13.1 mile route will take in the picturesque scenes of the stunning historic town centre including St Chad’s Church, Shrewsbury Cathedral and the Quarry, ending up at the West Mid Showground.

UKRunChat have plans for an Athletes village and family entertainment at the Showground. They are also organising plenty of spot prizes to be given out to runners.

Bibtag timing will also be used for the first time for the 2016 event..

Participants of all ages and volunteers will also receive a Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Hospital T-shirt and a stunning race medal.

Joe Williams, Director UKRunChat said: “I feel so honoured to have been invited to organise the Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Half Marathon in 2016. We have a nationwide network of runners and I am confident that they will be interested in this event, so growing it and taking it to the next level. 2016 will raise yet more funds for local charities. I am a local lad and very importantly, I’m a runner and I really want to give Shrewsbury a race that the whole town can be proud of.”

Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Hospital is the main sponsor of the event, which is now in its fourth year and has started to attract an impressive 2000 or so runners.

Mike Haffenden, Hospital Director at Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Hospital: “We are absolutely delighted to have UKRunChat organising the Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Half Marathon for us in 2016. The run is an annual highlight in the Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Hospital calendar. The atmosphere is unbelievable and it’s always very uplifting to see our consultants, surgeons and staff also taking part in their neon Nuffield Health Shrewsbury Hospital running shirts!”

Participants wanting to take part will be able to register from Monday 12 October 2015 at www.ukrunchat.co.uk.
