Witness appeal following assault at football match in Bridgnorth

The victim, a 19 year-old man, was tackled by a player of the opposing team, causing him to fall to floor. The offender has then proceeded to assault the victim while he was on the ground. As a result of the assault the victim sustained lacerations to his face and was later taken to Princess Royal Hospital.

As the victim left the pitch, the offender has tried to engage him in conversation. The offender has then proceeded to assault the victim for a second time. Another player separated the two men and both left the pitch.

The offender is described as a white, 22 year-old man of slim build and short blond hair.

Police are particularly interested into speaking attendees of the match who may have witnessed the incident. Anyone with any information should call the non-emergency 101 number quoting incident reference number 402s of Sunday 20th September.

Alternatively, information can also be given via the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
