The incident happened at around 11.45am.

The driver lost control of the car and struck the pole with such force that it snapped the telegraph pole in half, leaving it suspended between the other two poles by the telephone wires.

The road was closed for around one hour as the driver was treated at the scene by paramedics and then taken to hospital to be checked, they were not thought to have any serious injuries.

One fire appliance from Much Wenlock was sent to the scene to assist ambulance personnel and make the vehicle safe.
