Arriva Trains Wales 48-hour strike cancelled
A planned strike that would have meant no Arriva trains or replacement buses for 48 hours from midnight has been cancelled.

A planned strike that would have meant no Arriva trains or replacement buses for 48 hours from midnight has been cancelled.
The strike action would have affected around 60,000 people and seen 1,000 services cancelled.
Unions say they are fighting to improve working practices for their drivers, and that drivers in Wales are paid less than in other parts of the country and want parity with counterparts over the border.
The strike was cancelled as a new offer was put on the table during talks lasting several hours.
An RMT spokesperson said: "After important progress in last minute talks with RMT and ASLEF, and after careful consideration by the union’s executive, we have agreed to suspend the strike action due to start on Arriva Trains Wales at midnight to allow for further discussions. Members have been instructed to work normally."
HR Director for Arriva Trains Wales, Gareth Thomas said: “We are pleased that we have been able to avert the proposed 48 hours strike and look forward to a successful conclusion to these on-going negotiations without further threat of industrial action.
“We apologise for the inconvenience and disruption to our customers who have already made alternative arrangements for the next two days.”
