RAF Cosford Air Show 2016 tickets go on sale

Tickets for the RAF Cosford Air Show 2016 to be held on Sunday 19th June, have officially gone on sale today.

With the 2015 event selling out weeks before the show took place and now having been voted the region's ‘Best Event of the Year’ by the public, the organisers are encouraging people to purchase their tickets as soon as possible as the show will again be ticket only.

Three themes will be encompassed in the air and on the ground during the 2016 event, Speed, Training and the 75th Anniversary of the Air Cadet Organisation.

The key theme at the RAF Cosford Air Show 2016 will be a celebration of Speed, and showcase the evolution of the jet engine. The theme marks the 75th anniversary of the inaugural flight of Britain’s first jet engined aircraft. The evolution of British jet engine technology will be exhibited in a special hangar display on the ground, which will also mark the 20th anniversary of Sir Frank Whittle’s death.

With RAF Cosford being the home to state of the art training for RAF Engineers and Technicians, as well as Defence Photographers and Physical Training Instructors, the air show gives the Royal Air Force the opportunity to illustrate the diverse number of roles within the Service.

"The theme of Training gives an unrivalled opportunity to show the public the wide range of jobs available within the RAF and to demonstrate why RAF Cosford is at the forefront of worldwide engineering training" stated Wg Cdr R Osselton, Air Show Chairman.

This year the Air Cadet Organisation celebrates its 75th anniversary, and this will be a key theme in the RAF Cosford Air Show 2016. On the ground, an enhanced Air Cadet village will promote the array of opportunities that the Air Cadet Organisation gives young people, with the chance for visitors to get hands on with flight simulators and other interactive activities.

Long term show supporter Carol Vorderman was recently made an Honorary Group Captain Ambassador for the Air Cadet Organisation.

Carol said "The RAF Cosford Air Show is such a great day out for the whole family and the perfect event at which we can celebrate this important anniversary. The Air Cadet Organisation provides tens of thousands of young people with unique and exciting opportunities every year."
