Police are appealing for information following an incident on the Ditherington Road in Shrewsbury on Saturday 28 November at around 8pm.

Police appeal for information following altercation in Shrewsbury

A Volkswagen Passat was travelling on the route when the driver became aware of a man walking in the road. It is thought that the pedestrian kicked out at the car and attempted to open the passenger door.

The driver stopped his vehicle and an altercation took place between the two men, to which police were alerted by passing members of the public. The pedestrian was later taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for treatment for injuries he is believed to have sustained earlier that evening.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Kerry Adamson said: "We are interested in speaking to anyone who saw the man walking in the road or who may have witnessed the altercation. If you witnessed to ascertain the full circumstances of what happened."

Following the incident, a 25 year-old man from Whitchurch has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He has been bailed until Tuesday 22 December.

Anyone with any information should call police on the non-emergency 101 number quoting incident reference number 585s of Saturday 28 November.

Alternatively, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their website. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
