Staff member threatened in Madeley Newsagents robbery

A staff member was left shocked and shaken after robbers wearing balaclavas entered Sunris Newsagents in Telford.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the robbery that occurred in Hills Lane Drive, Madeley, at approximately 7pm on Tuesday 8 December 2015.

Two males are believed to have entered the shop via a back door and threatened a member of staff before stealing cigarettes and a small amount of cash from the till.

The thieves also used a power tool in a failed attempt to break into a cash machine in the shop.

Although their attempt failed this would have generated a lot of noise and police are appealing for witnesses who heard a power tool being used in the area or who may have seen persons in and around the area carrying a large item or entering or leaving the rear of the premises.

The two males are described as 5'10" or taller and skinny build both wore gloves and balaclavas. One is described as wearing all black including joggers. The other is described as wearing grey joggers and a light coloured top.

One member of staff who was in the shop at the time was uninjured but described as shaken following the robbery.

Any witnesses are please asked to contact West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident 0611S 081215.
