Cyclists raise over £17,000 for Oswestry Bone Cancer Centre Appeal
A group of cyclists have raised over £17,000 for the Oswestry Bone Cancer Centre Appeal.

Frank Collins, Chairman of The RJAH Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry, has met representatives from the Golden Lion Inn cycling group from Llangynhafal near Ruthin, to thank them for raising more than £17,000.
Comprising of 26 members, the Goldie bikers main event was in June where they undertook a 210 mile cycle route from Cardiff through the valleys and black mountains to Hay on Wye, up to Ludlow and then on to Shrewsbury and finally heading home into Wales to Llangynhafal.
Andy Mitchelmore, one of the group organisers explains why they chose to support the Appeal, "A few years ago a young member of our community was diagnosed with a non-malignant tumour, thankfully this was successfully removed by Mr. Cool and his skilled team at the hospital. As a group we have supported other health related charities over the years but when we heard about the hospital’s Appeal there was no doubt about us choosing to support it following the wonderful care that was received.”
Frank Collins said, “We are truly grateful to the Goldie bikers for the tremendous effort they have made to support our Appeal. The total they have raised is remarkable and will make a tangible impact on the patients who will be treated here for years to come.”
Development work has already begun on the £15.1 million scheme to transform existing hospital facilities, including four new clean air Theatres, a High Dependency Unit and an Admission on Day of Surgery Unit. A new dedicated Bone Cancer Centre with inpatient and clinic facilities and a flexible multi-use ward will be built on the first floor.
