Festive cheer as Shropshire hospital staff get into the spirit of Christmas
Wards and departments across Shropshire's two main hospitals are decked with boughs of holly as staff got into the festive spirit this week.

Staff entered the hospitals annual Christmas decorations competition, with a panel of judges visiting RSH, PRH and Euston House in Telford to meet staff who transformed their departments into grottos, nativity scenes and enchanted faraway lands for the Trust’s annual competition.
This year the departments were scored on two themes: Crafty Christmas (for their use of crafty and upcycling skills) and the Trust Values (weaving the Trust’s Values – Proud To Care, Make It Happen, We Value Respect and Together We Achieve – into the displays).
The Acute Medical Unit (AMU) at PRH were announced the overall winners, and the recipients of a £25 voucher, but every department that took part was presented with a Trust Values mug filled with chocolates as a recognition of their superb efforts.
The judging panel consisted of Adrian Osborne (SaTH Communications Director), Julia Davies, Muriel Fellows, and Jean Gulliver (all members of the Trust’s Patient Experience and Involvement Panel [PEIP]) and Richard Jones (SaTH Communications and Engagement Officer).
The three PEIP members said: “We would like to thank everyone who took part. A huge amount of hard work has gone into the competition and it is clear from visiting everyone that this competition has been of huge benefit to both the morale of staff and patients.
“We have witnessed wonderful camaraderie among the departments. Our staff are a real credit and have managed to really enter into the festive spirit while continuing to provide excellent quality of care.”
Adrian added: “It was so tough to choose one overall winner when such creativity and joy was evident right across the Trust but the decorations at AMU at PRH were truly encapsulated the Trust Values while also displaying an excellent array of craft skills. In the eyes of myself and all of our judges everyone was a winner. The standard of entries far exceeded our expectations. They are just fabulous.”
