Police are appealing for witnesses or information after two men were assaulted in Dawley on New Year's Day.

Two assaulted after offenders enter Telford home following altercation outside pub

On Friday 1 January, two men were involved in a verbal altercation with an unknown group of men in the car park at the rear of The Crown Inn pub. The two men then left the area and returned to a property in King Street.

Police say that between 2.20am and 2.40am, three offenders gained entry into the property and assaulted the two men.

One of the men received multiple wounds to his head and torso and the other victim sustained hand and facial injuries. Both were taken to hospital.

The offenders are believed to be three white men in their 30s. Two of them were thought to be of a stocky build and either bald or with short shaved hair. One of the offenders was thought to be wearing a black top and jeans, and the other had a white top and jeans. The third offender was described as being slimmer and was believed to be dressed in blue and wearing a fur hat.

An assault also took place inside the pub earlier and police believe one of the offenders could have been involved in both incidents.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the offence, or who may have any information. Please call police on 101, quoting incident 213S of 1 January 2016.

Alternatively, if you do not feel comfortable speaking directly to the police then you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online via their website. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.

A 43 year-old man from Telford has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and wounding with intent, and is currently on bail until 29 January 2016.
