Third arrest made following altercation at recreation ground in Shrewsbury

The incident occurred at around 6.45pm on Friday when four males are reported to have walked across the Astroturf football pitches disrupting two games of football before the altercation took place.

A 44-year-old man received facial injuries in the incident.

An 18-year-old man from Shrewsbury was arrested yesterday on suspicion of affray. Two others, a 17-year-old male and 19-year-old man arrested previously have all been bailed until February while investigations continue.

There were a number of young footballers and their parents on the pitches at the time who are believed to have witnessed the incident and police are keen to speak to all these people.

If anyone witnessed the incident or has information that could help police with their investigation they should call 101 and quote incident 593s of 8th January 2016. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
