Snow and Ice weather warning for Shropshire

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin as temperatures begin to plummet over the next few days and Snow, Sleet and Ice hits.

Those out about this evening are being advised to take extra care as it becomes cold with widespread frost and icy patches which will make driving hazardous. Although it will start off clear, cloud will thicken overnight with showers moving across the area, turning to sleet or snow at times and temperatures dropping to -1°C.

The Yellow weather warning from the Met office has been issued from 6pm tonight until 11am Friday morning although the cold weather is set to continue over the weekend. Sleet or snow is forecast at times and it will be cold despite winds being light with a high of just 2°C. The nights are set to become very cold with severe frosts predicted.

The current cold weather is caused by low pressure sitting over the UK which is slowly heading East into the North Sea. The wintry cold conditions are a change from the milder weather experienced at the end of last year.
