A car has been damaged after what is believed to be a rock was thrown at it from a footbridge in Telford.

Rock thrown at passing car from Telford footbridge

The incident happened in Madeley on Friday 22nd January at around 6pm as the car was being driven between Madeley Roundabout and Court Street.

As the driver passed underneath a footbridge she heard a loud bang on the roof of the black Citroen C4. When she stopped to investigate, a rock or similar had seemingly been thrown at her vehicle from the footbridge. The vehicle was damaged at the front of the roof close to the windscreen.

PC Sally Downes said: "This reckless act could have caused far more serious damage and injury or even worse, death. We would like to remind everyone that this type of incident can have very serious consequences for all road users.

"If anyone has any information about what happened then please contact us on 101 quoting incident reference number 588s of 22 January."
