VW lovers flock to Telford for Camper Mart

VW lovers turned out in force for the newly expanded Camper Mart at Telford’s International Centre on Sunday.

VW lovers flock to Telford for Camper Mart

Event Director, Shelley Bond, commented: “This year, we made Camper Mart bigger, taking over three halls at The International Centre and showcasing almost twice the number of VW buses as last year. We’re also delighted to have welcomed many more VW lovers to this year’s show, with attendance figures up by about 30% on last year’s figures.”

This year’s record attendance figures reflect the ongoing popularity of the iconic VW. Two halls at the International Centre were given over to traders, with everything from conversion companies like Celtic Motorhomes and Vanhaus, through to accessory experts like Van-X and camping gurus, Lightning Leisure, to specialist companies like Fat Bob’s Emporium and the VW Keyman.

Shelley Bond added: “It’s always exciting to see an event grow in popularity as Camper Mart has and this will challenge us to be even more ambitious next year!”

In addition to virtually doubling the number of VW buses on display, the organisers of Camper Mart celebrated last December’s release of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ by inviting UK Garrison, a costuming group and enthusiasts, to the event.

UK Garrison made a memorable entrance to the show, rolling up in their very own VW, which was among the vehicles on display and is obviously their preferred land transport! Stormtroopers, Boba Fett and even Darth Vader made an appearance, raising not just smiles but also some much needed donations for the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation.

The Bus Doctors (offering their practical advice) and a Roller Derby, plus BMX enthusiasts, skateboarders, face painters and a live music stage were among the highlights of the event, providing entertainment all day long.
