League of Friends donate £200,000 for purchase of 15 new renal dialysis machines
A £200,000 donation has been used to purchase 15 new renal dialysis machines at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

The machines will support a new three-bedded acute dialysis unit which will open later this year on Ward 28 Nephrology.
Nonny Stockdale, Matron for Renal Services, said: “The new dialysis machines will support the new facility and the existing renal unit, which currently provides 330 dialysis sessions per week to patients with renal failure. Each machine will provide up to three dialysis sessions per day and will allow the service to run at its maximum.
“The League of Friends is instrumental in the continuing development of renal services and their support is highly valued by both patients and staff.”
The League of Friends of Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) donated a further £10,850 for the purchase of new blood pressure monitors on Ward 27.
Ray Smith, Executive Chairman of the League of Friends of RSH, added: “Our supporters, helpers and fundraisers are delighted we have been able to purchase 15 new dialysis machines.
“The Friends are committed to supporting the RSH by raising funds for the purchase of much needed equipment, much of which has benefitted from the huge advancement in the development of medical and scientific instruments and all of which continues to help improve patient care and save lives.
“The provision of the latest technology is hugely beneficial both in retaining and attracting highly skilled consultants, doctors and nursing staff. Above all though, the better the equipment, the better the patient’s outcome.”
Simon Wright, Trust Chief Executive, said: “On behalf of the Trust, I would like to thank The League of Friends of RSH for their continued support.”
