Moto-x rider airlifted after coming off bike near Bridgnorth

A moto-x rider has been airlifted after suffering a potentially serious back injury after coming off his bike as he landed after going over a jump.

The crash happened at an event at Chesterton Mill Cottage, at Chesterton near Bridgnorth at just after 12:30pm on Sunday lunchtime.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The initial call came from event medical staff who said that the rider, who is in his 20s, came off as he landed on a steep downward slope. He was seen to go over the handlebars and landed on mud.

“He was initially assessed by the on site medical staff. Working with ambulance staff, the man was fully immobilised before being airlifted to the major trauma centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for specialist care.”

An ambulance and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a trauma doctor on board were sent to the scene.
