Sundorne School receives glowing Ofsted report
Staff and students at a Shrewsbury academy were praised today after the school was given a glowing Ofsted report.

Sundorne School, which is part of Shrewsbury Academies Trust, was praised across all fields, with the report noting that “the leadership team has maintained the good quality of the education since the last inspection”.
The report, which was published today, follows Sundorne’s first visit from Ofsted inspectors since it became an academy in 2013.
While the report praised the students’ levels of attainment, safeguarding procedures and attendance rates, the academy’s management team have pledged to do all it can to ensure that it is graded ‘outstanding’ in the next report.
Melanie Hooson, head of Sundorne School, said: “We are delighted that the hard work of all our students and staff has been recognised by Ofsted.
“We are particularly pleased that inspectors praised students for their resilience in lessons and a positive learning environment where pupils push themselves to achieve.
“Ofsted were pleased that all the issues from the previous inspection had been addressed effectively.
“Inspectors also noted that we have a clear understanding of the strengths of the academy and what we need to do to become outstanding.
“We are already working hard on these areas to ensure this happens.”
Geoff Pettengell, executive principal of Shrewsbury Academies Trust, said the findings of the Ofsted report were “extremely positive” and would hold the academy in good stead before it merges with the Grange Secondary School to become Shrewsbury Academy later in the year.
