World Snooker Champion Stuart Bingham bringing trophy to Oswestry

Current World Snooker Champion, Stuart Bingham, will be bringing the World Championship Trophy with him when he will be participating in the ‘Celebration of Snooker’ exhibition, in Oswestry, next week.

The event, being held at Morda Village Hall Social Club, Weston Road, Morda, near Oswestry, on Saturday, April 9, will be his last exhibition as World Champion before going on to defend his title at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield on April 16.

This annual celebratory event, has welcomed many snooker champions over the years including Steve Davis, Ricky Walden, Dennis Taylor, John Parrot and John Virgo, so the presence of Bingham, this year, will be a fitting end to the season for the Oswestry and District Billiards and Snooker League.

The current World No2 will compete in a frame by frame competition against members of the League, over seen by former World professional snooker referee Michaela Tabb, before presenting trophies to the players.

Doors will open at 6.45pm and tickets are priced at £15 for the general public and £10 for registered league players.

This exhibition night will be the highlight of a series of ‘final’ matches that will be played every night throughout the preceding week for individuals and teams. Starting with the individual billiards final on Sunday, April 3 and ending with the individual snooker final on Friday, April 8, between Mike Dubicki and Paul Lloyd of Ellesmere, all ‘final’ matches will be free to watch.

For more information and tickets call Lee Gorton on 07553 379152.
