Driver suffers head and face injuries in Shrewsbury road rage incident

Police are appealing for witnesses or information after a car driver was assaulted on the A5, near to Emstrey Island.

The incident at around 4pm on Friday 4 March involved a blue Renault Scenic and a black Volkswagen Touran people carrier which was travelling on the Shrewsbury A5 towards the Emstrey Island.

The VW was reported to have pulled in front of the Renault, before both vehicles stopped at the traffic lights on the Emstrey Island. The driver of the VW then got out of his vehicle, approached the Renault and damaged the driver's window.

The Renault driver, a man in his forties, was then assaulted by the VW driver sustaining injuries to his head and face. The driver of the VW then got back into his vehicle and drove off in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a white man in his thirties of a muscular build and approximately 5' 7" in height. He was thought to have short hair and stubble on his face. At the time of the incident he was believed to be wearing a striped grey t-shirt and jogging bottoms.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have any information. Please call police on 101, quoting incident 0506S 040316.
