Warning over further distraction thefts in Shrewsbury
Police are continuing to urge people to be vigilant following a further incident of distraction theft in Shrewsbury.

At around 4pm on Friday 1 April the victim, a woman in her 70's, used her card at the checkout in Aldi on Arlington Way. She placed her handbag containing her purse in the boot of her car, but did not lock it whilst returning her trolley. She later realised her card was missing and discovered a substantial amount of money had been taken from her account.
The police are reminding people to keep an eye on their belongings and to never leave their purse or wallet unattended.
The public are reminded to ensure they cover their PIN whilst using a checkout or cash point, and to watch out for 'shoulder surfers' who may be watching as the PIN is entered.
Thieves will often use a range of methods to distract shoppers, in order to steal a bank card, once they are aware of the PIN.
If anyone has any information about this incident or other distraction thefts, please contact West Mercia Police on 101.
