Four car collision closes B5063 at Shawbirch

The collision occured at the junction of the B5063 and Crowdale Road in Shawbirch at approximately 1.55pm today.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Crews arrived to find four vehicles that had been in collision and a large number of occupants, that had been travelling in the cars, at the side of the road.

“One man in his 60’s, from a car that had sustained the most damage, was treated for chest pain from a suspected seat belt injury. The man was given pain relief at the scene and conveyed to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

“A woman, believed to be in her late 20’s, who was travelling in another vehicle was treated at the scene for a laceration to her head before being taken to Princess Royal Hospital for further treatment.

“A man from a third vehicle was treated for neck pain. Due to the nature of the injury he was immobilised as a precaution and conveyed to Princess Royal Hospital for further assessment.

“All the other occupants were checked by ambulance personnel at the scene but did not require further treatment.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent three ambulances and a rapid response vehicle to the scene.

Five fire appliances including the rescue tender were mobilised from Telford Central and Wellington along with an operations officer.

The Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford was also called to the incident but not required.
