Firefighters tackle large fire at Stadco in Shrewsbury

Firefighters from across Shropshire were called to a fire at Stadco in Shrewsbury during the early hours of this morning.
Emergency services including Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police were called to the fire involving machinery at just after midnight.
Eight fire appliances including the Foam Pod and the Light Pumping Unit were mobilised from Albrighton, Baschurch, Clun, Craven Arms, Shrewsbury, Telford, Tweedale, Wellington and Wem. Operations, Hazmat, Safety and Principal officers were also in attendance.
Specialist ambulance staff were also called to the incident to support firefighters.
Firefighters had been on scene at Stadco on Harlescott Lane for about an hour when they requested ambulance support due to the complex nature of the incident and the use of breathing apparatus.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “All members of staff had been safely evacuated without incident, but ambulance staff remained on scene while the firefighters tackled the fire, which was in a restricted access area with the potential for chemicals to be involved.
“Ambulance staff were stood down at 4.45am after the blaze was safely brought under control.”
Firefighters stood down at around 5.11am.
