Over 3,000 motorcyclists to take part in Bike4Life today
Several thousand motorcyclists will ride 23 miles from Shrewsbury to RAF Museum Cosford as part of Bike4Life today.

The Bike4Life Ride Out will be led by motorcycle legend Steve Parrish, adventure motorcyclist Nick Sanders and stars of the Emergency Bikers TV series Flymo and Forrest.
The Ride Out will start out at 11.30am from Meole Brace in Shrewsbury with 3,500 bikers expected to take to the roads in convoy before arriving at RAF Cosford where the Festival will be under way, with Superbike World Champion James Tosland’s band headlining the main stage. The event is organised to raise funds for the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, while promoting road safety.
With bikers heading from all directions into Shrewsbury a one-way traffic management system in place on Roman Road has been lifted to allow two-way access. The system will be reinstated again this evening.
Motorists using the A5, M54 and A41 are being advised to plan their journeys and allow extra time.
In Shrewsbury the A5 eastbound will be closed from Dobbies roundabout including the Emstrey and Preston junctions.
The M54 entry slip roads at junctions 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 and the M54 westbound exit slip road at junction 3 will also be closed.
Traffic will be diverted along the following routes:
From Junction 7 (Wellington) - Along the B5061 to Ketley Brook roundabout, then following Holyhead Road through Beverley Roundabout and Greyhound Interchange to Priorslee Roundabout before being directed left onto the A5 through Limekiln Roundabout * and then onwards on the A5 towards the A41.
From Junction 6 (Wrekin Retail Park/Lawley) – Follow the A5223 towards Ketley Brook Roundabout, then travel along Holyhead Road through Beverley Roundabout and Greyhound Interchange to Priorslee Roundabout before being directed left on the A5 through Limekiln Roundabout * and then onwards on the A5 towards the A41.
From Junction 5 (Forge, Telford Town Centre) – Along A5 Rampart Way to Hollinswood Interchange, then continue to follow A5 to the A41 through Priorslee Roundabout and Limekiln Roundabout * and then onwards on the A5 towards the A41.
From Junction 4 (Telford Services) - via Castle Farm Way towards Limekiln Roundabout * before being directed right onto the A5 towards the A41.
In Telford there are also highway improvement works taking place at Limekiln Roundabout, Telford & Wrekin Council has ensured there will be no temporary traffic lights in place, however there will still be lane restrictions and traffic management in place as these cannot be removed due to the ongoing roadworks.
Diversion routes will be clearly signposted.
Alexandra Brown, Emergency Planning Officer for Highways England, said: “Road users may experience some delays along these routes on Sunday morning, but these should ease fairly quickly. We advise drivers to plan their journeys ahead of time or to use alternative routes if possible around the middle of the day.”
