Trust appoints new Head of Midwifery
A new Head of Midwifery has been appointed at the Trust which runs Shropshire’s two acute hospitals.

Sarah Jamieson will start in the role at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) on 1 September 2016.
Sarah is currently Deputy Head of Midwifery / Divisional Matron and Deputy Associate Chief Nurse at University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM) NHS Trust.
When she starts at SaTH, Sarah will oversee the Maternity Service at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford, in the community in the county and at Midwife Led Units in Bridgnorth, Ludlow and Oswestry.
Sarah Bloomfield, Director of Nursing and Quality at SaTH, said: “After a competitive recruitment process, I’m delighted that we have appointed Sarah as our new Head of Midwifery from 1 September 2016.
“Sarah has lots of new ideas about how we can take the service forward and she is very keen to spend time with patients to listen to their views as well as to frontline staff to understand how it feels to them to work in the service and listen to their ideas about improvement.
“As part of her induction, Sarah will be spending time clinically in all of our Midwifery areas so patients and staff will have lots of opportunities to meet her early into her appointment.
“I’d like to thank everyone who participated in the recruitment process, including a stakeholder group of frontline staff and a separate stakeholder group involving our leadership team.”
Sarah Jamieson’s career spans over 27 years in both nursing and midwifery, and prior to her current role she has worked within three other Trusts across the West Midlands and North Wales in roles predominantly focusing on quality and safety.
Underpinning her experience within governance roles, Sarah’s clinical background includes working as both a nurse and midwife in Shropshire, where she originally trained. She lives in North Shropshire with her husband and two daughters.
She said: “I consider SaTH to be my professional home, the place where I trained and developed as a midwife. I am delighted to have been offered this opportunity and I am very much looking forward to returning to my roots and leading such an established and experienced maternity service.
“It is a challenging and exciting role and I am assured that I will be supported by a fantastic team of midwives and my senior management team. I can’t wait to start.”
