Motorcyclist suffers head injuries in collision with trailer near Shrewsbury

The collision happened at Leaton crossroads at about 1.20pm and involved a Hyosung GT motorcycle and a Toyota Hilux.

The motorcycle was travelling along the B5067 from the direction of Dunsheath and the car was approaching to turn left onto the B5067 towards Walford Heath.

It is believed that the motorcyclist lost control of the vehicle which fell and slid into the trailer attached to the car.

The motorcyclist was air lifted to the Royal Stoke University Hospital with suspected head injuries.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “When ambulance staff arrived they found an off-duty colleague administering aid to the motorcyclist, an 18-year-old man, who had come off his bike after colliding with a trailer being pulled by a 4x4.

“Due to the condition of the biker, ambulance staff and the doctor administered advanced trauma care at the scene. Once the man was in a more stable condition, he was then airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital.”

Officers investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it or saw either of the vehicles, and the manner in which they were being driven, before the collision occurred.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident 0310S 270516.
