Canoeist found dead following search of lake near Bridgnorth
A canoeist has been found dead following a major search of a lake near Bridgnorth yesterday evening.
The man’s body was found following a five-hour search which began at around 7.45pm, when the man’s canoe was found empty in the pool at Underton.
Six fire appliances including the Water Rescue Unit were mobilised from Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock and Shrewsbury.
The Midlands Air Ambulance, West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police were also at the scene.
A specialist underwater search and rescue team recovered the man’s body at around 1.30am.
