Heavy rain has caused flash flooding in areas of Telford today with properties and roads being affected.

Heavy rain causes flash flooding in Telford

One person was rescued from floodwater by police after Wellington Road at Honnington became flooded.

On Royal Oak Drive in Apley, flooding affected electrics at a property after rain water entered a property via a boiler flue. The water then seeped through the light fittings within property. Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Tweedale isolated the property's electrics and water supply.

In Donnington, three properties were affected by flooding due to partially blocked drains. Firefighters from Telford Central used two light portable pumps to alleviate the flood water.

Telford & Wrekin Council said they had a number of teams out dealing with flooding caused by heavy rain falling in parts of Ketley, Donnington, Wellington and Newport.
