Witness appeal after Newport burglary
Police officers have appealed for the public’s help after a house was burgled during the middle of the day in Newport.

The burglary happened at a home in the Forton Road area of town whilst the occupant had popped out for a short while.
Thieves forced their way into the property by smashing a glass panel in a rear door whilst the householder was running an errand and collecting one of their children sometime between 11.00am and 12.15pm today (Thursday 23rd June).
At this time the full extend of what has been stolen is not known but the victims have already discovered a quantity of gold jewellery and cash missing from their home.
PC Claire Walker-Shale from Malinsgate Police Station in Telford described the offenders as ‘despicable’ saying: “The lady who lives at the house had only popped out for a short period and during this time whoever broke in has made a complete mess pulling clothes and items out of just about every drawer and cupboard they could find.”
She added: “The family are understandably extremely upset about what has happened to them and their home and I would appeal to anyone who may have any information, no matter how small, about this crime to call the police.”
Anyone with information should call Telford Police on 101 quoting reference 275S-230616 or the free and anonymous CrimeStoppers Charity on 0800 555 111.
