Driver airlifted after engine is thrown from car following collision in south Shropshire
A man has been airlifted to one of the region’s major trauma centres after his car crashed into a tree, a collision which saw the engine thrown from the vehicle.

The incident happened on the B4385 in Little Brampton, near to Bishop’s Castle, just before 4.20pm on Wednesday afternoon.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews discovered a car that had been seriously damaged in the collision with its engine lying in the middle of the road having been ripped from the car.
“There was one patient, a man who was treated for a fractured jaw, chest and abdominal injuries.
“He was given pain relief at the scene before being carefully moved on to the nearby air ambulance, which had landed in a field, before being flown to Royal Stoke University Hospital.”
The man was cut free from the vehicle by fire service personnel using hydraulic equipment.
Four fire appliances were mobilised from Bishops Castle, Craven Arms and Wellington.
The Midlands Air Ambulance, West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police also attended.
