Councillors pass motion supporting Land Registry jobs
Telford & Wrekin Councillors have passed a motion arguing against the privatisation of Telford Land Registry.

New Leader, Shaun Davies, put forward the motion in support of the under threat publically owned service after recently meeting with representatives from the Telford office of HM Land Registry along with regional representatives from the PCS Union.
Around 300 jobs at the Land Registry in Telford town centre face uncertainty after earlier this year the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills issued a consultation document on the possible privatisation of the Land Registry.
Councillor Angela McClements who supported the motion said that the loss of these jobs would have a ‘terrible impact which could cost the local economy up to £9million’.
Council Leader Shaun Davies said: “The proposed sell off of the Land Registry will have many serious implications none more so than the dedicated, skilled work force based in Telford. We will never shy away from our responsibility to speak out about threats by Government to local jobs.”
